The Founders


Maryanna Gibbs
Maryanna Gibbs is currently a seventh grade math teacher at Viking School in Gurnee, Illinois. Maryanna volunteered for Fred Outa during the summer of 2004. She also spent time in Voi, Kenya during the summer of 2002, conducting research for her master's thesis on women's leadership in Kenyan cooperatives. She worked specifically with the first woman mayor of Voi, Mrs. Joan Mjomba.

Previously Maryanna also worked as a teacher and a volunteer in a health center in Agwatashi, Nigeria. Maryanna's education includes a BA in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University, an MA in International Affairs from Ohio University, and an MA in Educational Leadership at Northeastern Illinois.
Susan Vaickauski is currently a secretary at Westmoor School in Northbrook, Illinois. She volunteered for Fred Outa during the summer of 2004. Susan's education includes a BA from Purdue University and an MA from Loyola University.  Over the years Susan has helped form groups that worked with shelters and the homeless in the Chicago area.
